7 habits women need to break immediately for a healthier life

  Admin | March 21, 2018

You’re a busy, successful woman, probably juggling work, family and your personal ambitions. You’re doing everything right – but unknown to you, there may be some simple habits that are probably setting you back in your efforts to stay healthy. Read on to know more about these silent culprits.

1) Multi-tasking

While women are held to be the undisputed queens of multi-tasking, various studies have proven that multi-tasking overworks the brain, increases stress levels, results in premature exhaustion and could also lead to brain damage. Plus, when you multi-task, you actually get less work done and could lose up to 40% of your productive time!

2) Putting everyone else first

Taking care of others may make you happy, but it may not make you healthy. Once in a while, bump up your name to the top of your priority list and make sure you pay attention to your needs first.

3) Skipping sleep

Most women skip on sleep and fail to fulfill even the standard quota of 6-8 hours of sound shut-eye. Lack of sleep can wreak havoc on your body, exposing it to a truckload of problems, from premature ageing to an increased risk of cancer. Plus, recent studies prove that women need 20 minutes more sleep than men!

4) Cutting down on all snacks and treats

Not all snacking is bad, especially if you’re munching on healthy food like nuts, berries, seeds, which can actually be beneficial for you. And once a week, throw in a fancy treat too – a very strict diet may cause your unhealthy cravings to spiral out of control.

5) Not seeking professional help

How many times have you been plagued by that nagging headache, but still refuse to get it checked? Don’t minimize your problems or brush them aside, especially if they are chronic. Get them checked by a medical professional right away – you’ll be surprised at the improvement in your quality of life.

6) Spending too much time glued to your screen

Sitting for long hours could drastically increase your risk of early death, even if you exercise regularly! Studies recommend getting up and walking briskly for at least 5 minutes for every 30 consecutive minutes of sitting. So sit less, move more!

7) Wearing heels everyday

If you’re wearing heels every other day, you’re putting undue pressure on your feet, calves, ankles, hips and spine. This can cause a host of problems later in life, while making you more susceptible to injuries now. Time to trade in those heels for a healthier alternative!

While there’s no silver bullet to stay in top form, breaking these 7 habits can definitely boost your overall well-being. Try it for yourself and see!
